Instructions for the IH Cub Cadet Snow Blower

Snow blowers, or snow throwers, are a great way to clear snow-covered driveways and sidewalks without having the back-breaking work of shoveling. Cub Cadet is primarily known for manufacturing riding lawn tractors. However, Cub Cadet also makes a variety of snow blowers such as the IH snow blower. The IH snow blower is a walk-behind, gas-powered push snow blower. Operating the Cub Cadet snow blower takes less than an hour to learn.

Instructions

    • 1

Check both the oil and gas levels. Both reservoirs are located on top of the engine at the front of the machine. Top up the fluids if they are low.

    • 2

Place both the snow blower's traction control and auger controls in the off (disengaged) position.

    • 3

Slide the Cub Cadet's throttle to the fast position and turn the choke to the off position.

    • 4

Press the primer bulb two to three times and then pull the recoil starter rope out slowly. As it feels tighter, rapidly pull on the rope to start the snow blower. If it won't start after a couple of pulls, slide the choke lever to the full position if necessary to start the snow blower.

    • 5

Push the snow blower's shift lever into the forward or reverse position. There are six speeds, with sixth being the fastest speed.

    • 6

Squeeze the Cub Cadet's auger control clutch with your left hand. With your right hand, squeeze the traction control clutch, which engages the wheels to turn and locks the auger clutch. Release the auger control clutch (left hand) to stop the auger from rotating when the machine is not moving, or release the right grip to stop the snow blower from moving and the auger from turning.
