How to Replace the Blades on a Kubota Mower Deck

The Kubota riding mower, called the T-Series, has an adjustable mower deck with two double-edged blades attached to the underside. Each mowing season you should replace the existing blades with new sharp blades or take the old blades off and sharpen them. This will ensure your grass looks its best every week when you complete your mowing chores.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the front of the Kubota onto a set of ramps or place the front end on jack stands. This raises the front of the mower and eliminates the need to remove the mower deck from the tractor.

    • 2

Set the parking brake and disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. This will keep the mower from rolling off the ramps and it keep the engine from starting.

    • 3

Place a wooden block between the mower deck and the first blade. With the block wedged between the deck and the blade, you can remove the retaining nut in the center of the blade without the blade rotating. Use a socket wrench to remove the center nut.

    • 4

Pull the blade off the shaft and place the new blade onto the shaft. Thread the retaining nut onto the shaft with your fingers, wedge the block of wood between the blade and the deck and tighten the nut with the socket and ratchet.

    • 5

Move to the other side of the mower and repeat the same process with the second blade.

    • 6

Reconnect the spark plug wire, disengage the parking brake and roll the mower off the ramps.
