Instructions for the Zip Start on a Homelite Trim & Edge

Move the throttle control to the "start" position.

Inspect the fuel line valve on the front of the engine. The valve must be in the horizontal position to be open.

Push the primer button located on the front of the engine three times when starting a cold engine. Wait two seconds between each push. If starting a warm engine, forgo this step.

Pull slowly on the recoil starter rope until you feel tension. With tension, pull hard on the recoil starter. Do not allow the starter to slam back to the housing. Allow the starter rope to come back slowly. Complete this step three times if the trimmer does not start on the first attempt.
