How to Install a Fuel Access Door on a John Deere 4300

John Deere 4300 is a product series of non-commercial utility tractors and compact utility tractors, some of which are current models and others, such as the 4300 TEN series, that are retired models. The tractors have a green flip-down fuel door that covers the red gas cap and fueling assembly, making it less visible on the hood. This door can get lost over time or become damaged with use and age. The fuel access door can be ordered as a replacement part directly from John Deere parts and installs easily with provided hardware and without the need for tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Slip one end of the metal door hinge pin into the black plastic hinge frame on the fuel door opening.

    • 2

Press the inserted end toward the outer edge of the fuel cap opening to give yourself some room to slip the other end of the door hinge into the opposite side.

    • 3

Release the tension you have created on the hinge connection once both sides of the metal door hinge pin are fitted in the plastic bracket. Close the fuel access door.

    • 4

Secure the two thin metal tension clips on the top side of the door hinge to connect the black plastic hinge-holding bracket with the green fuel door. Press the U-shaped clips straight down into position where the door and hinge brackets meet up snug next to one another.
