How to Remove Spark Plugs From a Weedeater

Gas-powered Weedeaters use a single spark plug to ignite the combustion chamber in the small engine that drives the tool. For efficient operation, change the spark plug at the start of every mowing season and replace the plug every 100 hours of operation. This ensures reliable ignition and a smooth-running engine. Removing the spark plug takes less than a minute using a spark plug socket, available at hardware and automotive stores, as well as small engine repair shops.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the wire lead off the spark plug's round terminal stud.

    • 2

Place the spark plug socket over the entire plug and push down until the socket seats on the nut built into the spark plug shell.

    • 3

Twist the socket counterclockwise to unscrew and remove the spark plug. Do not bend or pull the socket at an angle, which could bend, crack or break the plug and make it more difficult to remove.
