How to Operate a Craftsman Project Pro 2550 Power Washer

Craftsman's Project Pro 2550 Power Washer makes cleaning dirt and debris from sidewalks, patios and siding easier than using a water hose alone. The Project Pro is powered by a small gasoline engine that increases the water pressure, providing a blast of water similar to a hand-operated car wash wand. Power washers are also referred to as pressure washers due to this feature. The Craftsman Project Pro 2550 is easy to operate, if you follow a few easy steps to get started.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the pressure washer outside near a water source. Make sure the pressure washer is located in the open air where the exhaust can dissipate. Do not turn on the pressure washer.

    • 2

Remove the fuel cap by turning it counter-clockwise, using your fingers. Add fuel if necessary until the fuel level is just below the fuel cap. Reattach the fuel cap and tighten securely.

    • 3

Remove the oil fill dipstick on the engine and wipe it clean with a rag. Put the dipstick into place and remove again to check the oil level. Add oil, if necessary.

    • 4

Locate the water hose inlet on the bottom of the pressure washer. Attach a garden hose to the inlet and tighten securely, using your fingers. Make sure the high pressure spray hose is connected to the pressure washer. Connect the high pressure spray hose with an adjustable wrench, if necessary.

Turn on the water source. Press the red button on the high pressure spray gun and squeeze the trigger with your fingers to get the air out of the system. Wait until the water is coming out of the hose before releasing the trigger. Attach the spray tip extension to the spray gun, and tighten with your fingers.

Locate the starter rope on the right-hand side of the power washer. Pull the rope slowly at first, then quickly when you feel resistance. When the engine starts, allow the rope to slowly be pulled back into the starter housing. Press the red button on the spray gun and pull the trigger to use the high pressure sprayer.
