How to Troubleshoot the High Speed on the Carburetor of the Poulan 2150

Poulan is primarily known for its gas-powered tractors and tillers. However, the company also makes chainsaws, including the 2150. The 2150 is a two-cycle, gas-powered chainsaw with a durable bar. The carburetor is responsible for limiting or aiding the flow of gas into the chainsaw to make it run. The 2150 has two idle speed screws, for low and high, that can be adjusted if the idle speed is either too high or too low.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the chainsaw and allow it to run for a few minutes to warm up.

    • 2

Locate the two idle adjustment screws on the rear body of the chainsaw. The high idle speed screw is on the right and the low idle speed screw is on the left.

    • 3

Insert a screwdriver into the high idle speed screw and turn it fully to the right until it cannot turn. However, do not tighten to the right too much, as it can damage the saw.

    • 4

Turn the screw a half-turn to the left and observe the idle speed. If the idle is still high, or if the bar is still spinning on its own, turn the screw 1/8 turn to the left. Turn in the opposite direction if the idle seems too low or the engine starts to stall out or sputter.
