How to Replace the Seat in a John Deere Torx

Torx is the nickname of a line of riding mowers manufactured by John Deere. These riding mowers are typically built very sturdy, but weather, age and other factors can place wear and tear on the mower's seat. If the seat ever rips or tears it can be replaced. You can buy replacement seats from your local John Deere distributor or order them directly from the company. Installation of the new seat takes about an hour.

Lift the seat to the upright position.

Use the wrench to remove the John Deere's negative battery cable.

    • 3

Pinch the tabs on the plastic wiring harness to unplug the safety seat switch.

    • 4

Loosen and remove the plastic adjustment knobs on the bottom of the seat track. Also use a wrench to remove the two metal retaining bolts mounting the seat to the seat track. Set the old seat aside.
