How to Properly Adjust a PG 210 Rotary Cutter Blade's Height

A poorly adjusted blade on your PG 210 rotary cutter can damage your mower as well as your lawn. A blade that's too low will cause premature wear to the mower, and in extreme cases, can cause the engine to "bottom out," if the blade becomes stuck in an irregular patch of ground. To avoid these issues, it's critical to properly adjust the cutting blade on your PG 210. Using only a few common household tools, you can dramatically increase the longevity and performance of your rotary cutter, as well as the quality of the cut.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the rotary cutter on a flat, level, paved surface and turn the motor completely off.

    • 2

Adjust the height of cut at the back end of the mower. Locate the sliding lever controlling the gauge wheel at the back of the mower. Pull this lever up until the rear cutting edge of the wheel is at least 4 inches from the cutting surface.

    • 3

Adjust the height of cut at the front of the mower. Locate the three-point hitch at the front of the mower deck, and adjust the height of the blade to a level 1/2 inch closer to the cutting surface than the back edge of the blade.

    • 4

Check that the cutting blade is level. From the back of the mower, look over the top of the deck to the back of the front axle. If the deck is not level with the axle, adjust the two lift arms at the sides of the mower until the cutting blade aligns with the axle.
