How to Change the Fuel in the X575

Although it isn't something that happens every day, sometimes you can get bad gas that has higher concentrations of water in it than it should. There are corrective steps you can take if you end up with bad or questionable gasoline inside your John Deere X575 riding lawn tractor. The X575 only has a 6.5 gallon tank, so you will need a gas can or two that will at least hold that much gas if the tractor's tank is full of bad gas.

Things You'll Need

  • Gas cans (6.5 gallons)
  • Siphon hose with hand pump
  • Fresh fuel
  • Nut driver
  • Spray carburetor cleaner
  • Fuel additive

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the gas tank of the John Deere and slide the siphon hose into the tank.

    • 2

Use the hand pump on the end of the siphon hose to drain out all of the bad gasoline from the gas tank.

    • 3

Refill the gas tank with new, fresh gasoline and the fuel additive. Follow the directions on the bottle of fuel additive to make sure too much is not added.

    • 4

Lift the engine cover and then remove the wing nut on the air filter cover. Remove the cover to access the top of the carburetor. Spray the liquid carb cleaner onto the carburetor and start the John Deere. Allow it to run for around 10 minutes.

    • 5

Turn the mower off and replace the air filter cover and wing nut.
