Parts of a Toro Snowblower

Every time it snows, your sidewalk and driveway becomes slippery and dangerous to walk on. Using a snow shovel can be tiring work, so the purchase of a snowblower will make the removal easier and quicker. Toro has three different types of snowblowers: electric, single stage or double stage gas powered. The three snowblowers have similar component parts.
  1. Controls

    • Each of the three Toro snowblowers have controls that allow you to start, engage and operate the machine. The controls have an interlock button, key, power control bar and handles. The electric Toro snowblower doesn't have as many controls as the industrial double stage snowblowers, but the controls perform the same tasks on each machine.

    Engine

    • The engine found on the snowblowers is similar to the engine found on a lawn mower. Instead of operating the mower blades and drivetrain, the engine on the Toro snowblowers controls the drivetrain and auger assembly or rotor blades. The engine on the electric snowblower is powered with 120 volts of electricity and the other two snowblowers use gasoline to fuel the engine.

    Auger

    • The auger, or rotor blades, is mounted on the front of the snowblower. The component is the snow collecting device. As the auger rotates, it collects the snow and pushes it through a discharge chute located on top of the snowblower. The discharge chute directs the blowing snow to either side of the auger.

    Drivetrain

    • The electric snowblower doesn't have a drivetrain. The machine is a push type piece of equipment, similar to a push lawn mower. The single and double stage snowblowers have a drivetrain similar to the drivetrain found on a rototiller used for the garden. The machines are self-propelled so that you don't have to push on the snowblowers to make them move forward.
