How to Unlock the Handle Without a Key on a Toro 1800 Power Curve

If you don't feel like shoveling snow, the Power Curve 1800 is helpful in cleaing off snow-filled walkways and driveways. Manufactured by Toro, the Power Curve is electric powered. The Power Curve is equipped with a key-and-lock system that is used to keep the handle locked when the snow thrower is not in use. If the key ever gets lost, the handle lock can be temporarily disabled until a new key can be obtained from the company.

     Unplug the Toro's power cord from the wall.

   • 2

     Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw on the underside of the Power Curve's control panel, beneath where the handle key would normally be inserted. Take out the screw.

   • 3

     Twist the lever arm mechanism to the right to the "On" position with a pair of pliers. Leave it in this position. This will keep the handle unlocked until a new key can be obtained.

     Replace the plastic panel piece on the bottom and replace the retaining screw with the screwdriver.
