Planting Date for Ultradwarf Bermudagrass

Ultradwarf Bermuda grass is a turf grass for golf courses. Its ultra-short stature and thick growth habitat makes it ideal for the golf green. Like all Bermuda grass, Ultradwarf is a warm-season grass that grows best in full sun. Also similar to other types of Bermuda grass, the Ultradwarf variety can be grown from seed or sprigs. Planting the grass at the proper time is critical for the best lawn.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your soil's temperature in the early spring. Stick the soil thermometer into the soil to a depth of 2 to 3 inches and keep it there for 3 to 5 minutes.

    • 2

Pull the thermometer out and read the results. If the soil is cooler than 60 degrees Fahrenheit, delay planting the Ultradwarf Bermuda grass until it warms up.

    • 3

Wait 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost date in your area to plant the Ultradwarf Bermuda grass. This time can range from March to May, depending on your location.
