Plot the path. Determine the width of the path and where it will lead. Decide if you want a straight path or one that curves. Ensure that the path has a uniform width.
Lay out boards or string along straight sections of the path. This will help guide the spade when cutting the path's edges.
Prepare the soil in the path, if healthy grass is not already present. Remove any weeds or standing vegetation, using the hoe. Level the soil with a rake. Add organic soil over the path if the present soil is rocky or has poor conditions for growth.
Cast half of the grass seed over the soil in even strokes, moving back and forth across your body. Cast the other half of the seed in a direction that is at a right angle to the previous dispersal method. Lightly rake the seed into the soil.
Water the seeding regularly until there is full, plush growth.
Adorn the sides of the grass path with flowers, shrubs, trees and other types of vegetation or decoration.
