Spread an evenly fitted sheet out in front of you right side up. The sheet size should correspond with your mattress size.
Snip a square of batting from the roll measuring 1 inch smaller than the fitted sheet on all sides. The batting should be at least 1 inch thick and made of firm fiber material as opposed to the soft, aerated cotton-like filling.
Layer the square of batting over the surface of the fitted sheet and center it evenly.
Squeeze a thick line of industrial fabric glue around all four edges of the batting square that is situated in the center of the fitted sheet.
Spread the second fitted sheet over the first, encasing the glued batting square. Press the top fitted sheet along the edges of the glued areas firmly, adhering the two forms together. Let the form dry for one hour.
Cut the excess fabric of the top fitted sheet away, cutting around the glued area. This creates a sort of padded fitted sheet.
Make your bed using this homemade, firm pad as the first thing you layer over the pillow-top mattress. Cover it with a second fitted sheet, and then a flat sheet as you make your bed. This firms up the consistency of your pillow-top bed.
