While some grasses germinate as quickly as five days, Kentucky Bluegrass takes two to four weeks to germinate. According to the All About Lawns website, it's the "tortoise" of the turf world.
Sow 2 to 3 lbs. of seed for every 1,000 square feet of land. Kentucky Bluegrass can be seeded all year long, but it's best to broadcast them in the spring and fall.
Give the seed light, frequent watering to encourage germination. Watering two to three times daily for the first two weeks is sufficient. Once the seed germinates, and you can see sprouts, reduce the watering frequency.
