How to Freeze Grass Seed Before Planting

Sowing grass from seed can be a frustrating process if the seeds don't grow well. Freezing grass seeds before planting them can help the seeds to germinate more quickly and easily. This technique is simple to perform and doesn't take long. The results can be a heartier, greener lawn in less time.

Instructions

      Fill an ice cube tray approximately 1/3 full of water.

      Freeze the tray.

      Remove the tray from the freezer and scatter grass seeds over the tops of the ice in each section of the tray.

      Pour water into the tray until it is full and place the tray back into the freezer.

      Freeze for one to two days.

      Remove the tray with the seeds prior to planting and let them thaw at room temperature.
