Identify a location in your yard that receives maximum sunlight throughout the day. An arbutus is best suited for constant sunlight.
Choose a soil composition that drains water easily. The arbutus plant requires soils with high evaporation rates. Sloped areas containing gravel are ideal spots for planting.
Dig a hole 3 to 5 inches deep, then moisten the soil.
Place the arbutus seed into the hole and cover with topsoil.
Water the arbutus seed daily until it sprouts. Once sprouted, you can water the arbutus two to three times a week.
