Instructions

    • 1

Select the location for the archway. Lay out a rectangle on the ground representing the archway opening. Three feet by 12 inches is a good size. Mark the corner points.

    • 2

Paint the PVC pipes and caps the color of your choice and allow them to dry. Keep paint handy for touch-ups. You can also leave the PVC unpainted.

    • 3

Drive the re-bar 12- inches into the ground using the hammer. Place one end of a PVC pipe over the re-bar. Flex the PVC into an arch across the opening and slide the other end onto the re-bar. Repeat for the second arch.

    • 4

Cut eleven 16-inch cross-bars from the remaining PVC pipe. Cap them using the PVC cement and caps. Work carefully to preserve the painted finish. You may want to skip the glue and simply friction fit the caps.

    • 5

Attach the cross-bars to the arches every two feet using two cable ties per end. Form an X with the ties. Use a ladder to reach the top of the arch. This step can also be done on the ground before placing the pipes over the re-bar. Work with the arch pipes straight if you decide to pre-install the cross bars then slide the two ends over the re-bar.
