How to Make Scented Oils for a Wood Stove

A wood stove does more than keep your home warm. In fact, it allows you to add aromatic essences to your home environment. Wood stove oil burners sit atop your heating stove, making use of the warmth to push aroma into the air. You can create your own oils for warming atop the wood stove, using minimal materials and a world of creativity.

Instructions

    • 1

Add the mineral oil to the 4 ounce dish. Mineral oil can be found in department stores and pharmacies and is used to make lamp oils and aromatic diffusers among other products.

    • 2

Stir in the coconut carrier oil. This oil can be found in grocery stores and craft and hobby supply stores. It thins out the thick mineral oil and helps carry scents.

    • 3

Create a blend of essential or fragrant oil equaling 1/2 ounce. You can make a blend of any type of fragrance that suits your needs. This is what makes this craft a long-lasting hobby. For example, 1/4 ounce each of vanilla and mint creates a fun and invigorating scent. Create different blends to suit your scent preferences.

    • 4

Add the created essential oil blend to the bowl of mineral and coconut oil. Mix it for a minute to disperse the solution adequately.

    • 5

Pour the oil into the 4 ounce vial for safekeeping. This oil can be added two or three drops at a time to a wood stove oil warmer to put the scent into the air.
