How to Build a PVC Pipe Outdoor Archway

An outdoor archway can be used as an entrance to a garden, a place for vines to grow or a division between sections of a yard. Instead of metal or wood, you can use less expensive PVC pipe. Decorate the archway with vines or lights, or paint it to match the garden's décor. You can decorate an outdoor archway for different seasons or special events, such as a birthday, anniversary or wedding.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out five pieces of 1/2-inch PVC pipe: two 10-feet long, two 2 1/2-feet long and one 1 1/2-feet long.

    • 2

Dig two holes five feet apart, each a little over two feet deep. Fill in the bottom of the holes with some rocks and place a 10-foot long section of PVC pipe in the center of each.

    • 3

Fill in each hole with quick-drying cement, ensuring it is spread evenly around the PVC pipe. Use a leveler to ensure both pipes are straight.

    • 4

Attach PVC pipe joints to each end of the 2 1/2-foot pipes. Connect the joints using the 1 1/2-foot piece of pipe.

    • 5

Connect the three connected pieces of pipe with the other joint ends to the two pipes that are cemented in the ground.
