Install a set of solar-powered crackle glass ball lights down the walkway leading to your front door or leading out your back door. Install the lights about 2 to 3 feet apart. Make sure the lights are placed where they will receive plenty of sunlight. Before installing the lights, remove any weeds growing on the walkway by pulling them up and then apply a weed killer to the edge of the lawn.
Install a set of string colored lights that blink on and off around the patio tables in your outdoor space. Try to locate a battery-powered set or route the plug to an outlet built into the patio or on a wall close by. Connect the lights to a timer so they will come on at a certain time each evening or a master switch so you can control the lights along with any other lights outside.
Change the bulbs in in your pool lights to colored bulbs. Remove one of the regular bulbs from the pool lights and take it to your local hardware or home improvement store to find colored bulbs that will work with your pool lights.
Install a set of colored solar-powered lights on the walls of any fences and/or on wooden steps you have in your outdoor space. Hang them on small hooks or by hammering in a small nail and attaching the light to it.
Run a set of colored lights around any covered area over a hot tub or beside a pool next. Hammer in some U-shaped eyes (made for installing fencing) and thread the lights through the eyes, or attach them with adhesive. Make sure you run the lights so the electrical plug ends up near a outlet. Try to avoid using an extension cord.
Direct a set of colored pathway lights to shine on any shrubs, trees and plants in your outdoor space. Aim the lights so a silhouette is projected on to the house, pool or fencing. Another idea, use one single color for one side of the space and a contrasting color on the other side of the yard or outdoor space.
