How to Build a Bluebird House Kids Project

A neat project for kids and a great project for bluebirds.

      take a one by six pine board and draw out pieces you will need. The back is 12 inches long. The side pieces run from 12 inches in the back to 11 inches in the front. The door or front is 11 inches by 4 inches. The bottom is 4 inches by 4 3/4 inches. The roof is 8 inches by 7 1/4 inches.

      Cut out all pieces as drawn. Nail back piece into the side pieces even with long side. Nail bottom in keeping everything flush. Nail the top on, this will angle as to shed water. Put the front on with hinges and a stop and hook so you can open and clean it out.

      Now you need a hole in the front for the birds to get in. Mark a spot in the front door two inches down and center the other way. Mark with a center punch. Drill a one and a half inch hole there. Put a 3/8 hole under this hole about 3/4 inch. Glue a dowel in hole for bird to roost.
