How to Make a Pretty Outdoor Screen House

Backyard screen houses can be your secret hideaway for many hours of outdoor relaxation. The only problem is that most of them are plain or look like you pitched a tent in the yard. The assembly is simple using ready-made lattice arbors from the hardware store and a few easy decorative touches.

Instructions

  1. Tropical screen house

    • 1

Follow the instructions to assemble the three lattice arbors. The arbor comes in ready-made sections that only need to be bolted together with a screwdriver and pliers. Place the arbors one behind the other in a row.

    • 2

Use a hammer to drive an anchor into the ground beside each leg of the arbors. Tie the anchor stake to the bottom of the arbor legs.

    • 3

Use the waxed lashing rope to tie the bamboo reed fencing to the top and bottom of each arbor. Start at the front and work down the side of the three arbors. Go across the back and back up the other side to the front, always fastening the fencing to each arbor at top and bottom.

    • 4

Tie the seashell netting to the arbors above the reed fencing and let it hang down. Do this on both sides to provide a tropical look.

    • 5

Pour the white sand on the ground around the arbor screen house and rake it smooth. Position some of the shells and colored stones around for a decorative effect. Place the wooden bench inside the screen house.

    • 6

Drive the solar bamboo torches into the ground on each side of the entrance to the screen house. They will charge all day and light your tropical screen house at night.
