Cut a piece of heavy plastic that is 6 inches larger than the rhubarb leaf and lay it on a flat surface. Center the rhubarb leaf, with the vein facing up, at the center of the plastic.
Fill a 2-gallon pail about half full of premixed concrete. Add water to the concrete until all the concrete is wet. Use a narrow shovel or garden hoe to mix the concrete and water. Add more water or concrete until the consistency is slightly stiff. Cover the leaf with the concrete until it is half the thickness of the desired finished stone.
Use wire-cutters to cut chicken wire in the shape of the leaf, cut the shape 1 1/2 inches smaller than the leaf. Place the wire on top of the poured concrete. Pour concrete over the wire until the end thickness is achieved. Puncture any air bubbles that are showing with a screwdriver or other pointed object.
Pull the plastic up to cover the edges and frame the stone with the plastic. Shape the edges while pulling up the plastic to conform the leaf. Push dirt or mulch against the outside of the plastic for support and maintain the shape. Cover with a second piece of heavy plastic.
Remove the top sheet of plastic after two days and carefully turn the stone over. Remove the leaf and spray with a garden hose to clean the stone of any leaf debris.
Spray the stone daily for a week while the concrete goes through the curing stage. The concrete will become increasingly harder each day.
Place the stone in its permanent position and surround the stone with dirt, gravel or mulch.
