How to Clean a Pink Granite Headstone

Granite, one of the most popular materials for headstones, is durability and cleans easily. Unlike slate or marble headstones, granite can be cleaned repeatedly while maintaining the integrity of the engraving. Granite comes in a variety of colors including green, grey, beige, red, black and the popular pink. Regardless of color, granite requires the same cleaning style. Proper maintenance of your granite headstone will keep it clean and clear to stand the test of time.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Non-ionic soap
  • Sponge
  • Non-metallic scouring pad
  • Old towel

Instructions

      Make a mixture of 1 ounce of non-ionic soap and 5 gallons of warm water.

      Using the sponge, apply the soap mixture to the headstone. Scrub vigorously to remove all the surface dirt and debris.

      Scrub firmly at any calcium deposits on the headstone with the non-metallic scouring pad and the soap mixture.

      Rinse the headstone with clear water to remove all the soap and wipe dry with the towel.
