How to Make Hand Cream at Home

Whether you have aged skin, dry skin or skin prone to rashes and other ailments, using hand cream allows you to improve your skin's health and luster. Using homemade hand cream gives you the ability to take control of the ingredients used in your recipe. Knowing how to make the hand cream at home also provides you with an enriching hobby that introduces you to making your own soaps and other skincare products.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 tbsp. beeswax pastilles
  • 1 tsp. borax
  • 1 cup distilled or floral water
  • 1 tbsp. rose hip oil
  • 1 tsp. mango butter
  • 5 drops essential oil blend
  • 2 glass bowls

Instructions

      Beeswax is a natural material useful for a variety of skincare recipes.

      Add the beeswax pastilles to one of the glass bowls. Melt the wax in the microwave on high for three minutes.

      Add the rose hip oil, butter, borax and water to the second bowl. Use either distilled water or a floral hydrosol of your choice.

      Microwave the bowl on high for three minutes.

      Mix the heated oil and water solution on a medium speed, using the hand mixer.

      Pour the melted beeswax into the mixing water slowly. As you continue to mix, a creamy emulsion will form. Beat the mixture for an additional five minutes.

      Add the essential oil blend to the mixture. A blend of two drops chamomile and three drops rose geranium provides you with a scented and relaxing cream blend. Use your imagination to create your own oil blends. Mix the cream to blend the oils into it.

      Pour the mixture into a container of your choice. Let it cool to room temperature before capping the container. The hand cream can be used immediately.
