Lawn Art to Make

Hand-crafted lawn art makes a statement. Some people have the knack to grow beautiful plants or create wooden yard art. Others can easily turn a piece of junk into a whimsical lawn item. Make lawn art that reflects your interests and talents.
  1. Growing Art

    • Plan one or more areas of your yard to be a living and growing showpiece. Line a rose garden with shorter plants instead of using a border. Plant bulbs and seeds that grow and bloom at different times to have a continuously-blooming garden spot. Plant vines and ornamental trees, as well as flowers, that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

    Wooden Cutouts

    • Place some colorful wooden cutouts on your lawn. Patterns for wooden cutouts are available at building center stores and craft stores. Pre-cut wooden shapes are available at craft stores. ChooseFreedom.com has free downloadable patterns for holiday and all-occasion projects to cut out and paint. Wooden cutouts can also include 3-D items such as birdhouses and birdbaths, wishing wells, lighthouses and unusual planters.

    Recycle Lawn Art

    • Turn junk into unique lawn art. Paint an old tricycle, toy baby carriage or wagon. Paint designs on the outside of last year's hanging planter baskets. Sand and paint that old clothesline post, then hang birdhouses or planters from it.
