Information on Extreme Birdhouses

The Birdhouses

• These birdhouses are classified as bird castles, all handmade without a blueprint. The mansions can be made to your specifications or the plans for a do-it-yourself project can be purchased as well.

The Builder

• John Looser is the creator and builder of the Extreme Birdhouses. As a disabled home builder, he continued building homes on a smaller scale. All houses are original custom one-of-a-kind models. There are various styles, structures and sizes to choose from. The insides of the homes are removable for easy cleaning and the birds love them.

Construction

• Reclaimed barn wood at least 100 years old is used, cut in strips and beveled for the finished look of a log cabin. The smallest house was a 16-inch square with only six bird apartments with the largest apartment being 9 feet wide, 8 feet tall with 103 bird apartments. They are mounted on a single 9-foot post. Most of the houses take between two days to six weeks to build.
