Hanging lanterns can be the perfect additions to a rustic campsite, lighting up the entire area even in the middle of the night. They can also add some festive light to an outdoor party. But hanging lanterns from trees can be a dangerous proposition. Running children can knock into a low-hanging lantern, and some lanterns can be dangerous near the wood of a tree. You can hang a lantern in a safe way by choosing the right lantern and hanging it correctly.

1
Climb onto the stool to reach one of the lower branches of the tree. You should need to use a stool to reach the branch; otherwise, the branch is too low-hanging to be safe.
-
2
Test the branch to make sure it is sturdy enough. It should be able to hold the weight of the lantern without bending.
