How to Keep Mice Out of Grills

The smell of outdoor barbecue might attract neighbors or guests, but it can also attract mice. Mice love to take up residence in outdoor grills, especially during the winter months. Mice can chew on gas lines and electrical wires, ruining your future barbecue plans. Prevent rodent squatters from taking over your grill when it is not in use.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrub your grill thoroughly with steel wool. Ensure that no food waste or remnants are left in the grill to entice mice.

    • 2

Cover the grill, making certain the lid is fully sealed. Wrap the grill in a tarp or grill cover. The cover should conform to the grill and not leave spaces where mice can enter.

    • 3

Place mousetraps or mouse repellent around your grill.

    • 4

Move your grill away from walls, drainage pipes or other locations where mice might be prevalent.
