Check the weather report. Before you adjust your wind spinner, wait until you have a windy day, so you will be able to test your spinner accurately. You don't need a lot of wind, just enough to make the spinner move.

Test the wind. Place your wind spinners in different locations outside your home so you can see where they catch the wind best.

Adjust your spinner. If it is already hanging from a piece of twine or fishing line, determine if you need to shorten or lengthen the line. If you need to shorten it, cut the line into two pieces and tie a knot to make a smaller loop -- don't cut excess line until you're happy with its length. If you need to replace the line with a new one, cut a piece to the length you want, but remember to double it, as you'll be making a loop to hang the spinner. If your spinner is on a metal pole, once you've determined where you want to place it around your home, use a hammer to push it into the ground. Go slowly, though, so you can see where the wind is catching the spinner as you set it in place.
