Fun Things to Put in Your Backyard

Playground Equipment

• If you have children, or guests with children, there are many different types of playground equipment that you can place in your backyard. You can purchase a swing set, slides, monkey bars and complete playground sets. Another idea for children is installing a sandbox for them to play in. If having a party, people often rent blow-up playground equipment. This includes bouncing blow-up activities and large blow-up slides. Trampolines are commonly placed in people's backyards. These offer fun for both children and adults.

Water Activities

• Placing a pool in your backyard provides a fun area to offer your friends and family. Pools are either underground or above the ground and come in many different sizes. Baby pools are a very inexpensive item to purchase for young kids. Slip and slides can add another backyard water activity. Typically with these, a water hose is needed to keep the slide wet. Children and adults run and slide their bodies across the slide.

Sports Items

• Many different sporting items are ideal for backyard fun. A volleyball net or a set of soccer nets is great when having parties, especially large group events. Some people purchase a batting cage for a fun backyard activity. It is placed inside a net, allowing people to hit balls that are automatically thrown to them. If you have a concrete pad in your backyard, or don't mind installing one, a basketball hoop is an idea.

• There are many other items that can be placed in a backyard for fun. Create a picnic area by placing a couple of picnic tables around or build a gazebo. Many people also install a couple of hammocks throughout the yard, ideal for people wanting to take a little break. If your backyard has room, you can install a pond. Place fish in the pond and allow family and friends to fish in it.
