Garden Crafts for the Yard

While most gardens are naturally beautiful due to colorful flowers, luscious green plants or fresh vegetables, they can always use the personal, artistic touch of a handmade garden craft. Spray all painted projects with a protective clear varnish to withstand the weather. All materials are found at any local arts and crafts store.
  1. Stepping Stones

    • Stir a concrete mixture according to the package directions, and pour it into a pie plate, metal form held together with clamps, or other structure that can be easily pulled off after the concrete dries. Decorate the setting concrete with gems, stones, seashells and colorful mosaic tiles. Press sharp materials level with the concrete surface. Use a stick to carve designs, names or words into the concrete.

    Bird Feeders

    • Glue together the bottoms of two similar terra cotta pots. Paint the outside of a terra cotta saucer a solid color, and glue it on top of one of the pots. Paint the pots a light, solid color, and decorate them with painted images or glued on gems, seashells or other decorative materials. Fill the top saucer with bird seed.

    Yard Stakes

    • Paint the fronts of unfinished wooden letters a solid color. On some, glue other small painted wooden shapes, such as butterflies, bees or stars. You can also glue buttons, seashells and other items onto the letters. Glue a wooden dowel to the back of each letter, and stick them into the soil among your flowers. Letters might spell out "America," "Love," "Live," "Dream" or your family's last name.
