Old bowling balls have a classic round shape and look similar to the pricey gazing ball sculptures. Make your own from old bowling balls from your home or those found at a thrift store. Check the ball over carefully, looking for any unique designs or patterns. Place the bowling ball on a pedestal and adjust it so that the designed area faces up or forward. For a more unique look, paint each bowling ball first. Arrange several pedestals in the garden, with the bowling balls sitting on top.
Create coiled metal flowers for your garden, using the springs from an old box spring. Strip the fabric covering from the box springs and wear thick gloves as you pull the springs away from the wood frame. You may find it easier to tear off the wood frame and then cut the springs away. While still wearing the gloves, twist the spring in your hand, forcing the coils closer together. Push a piece of metal pipe through the bottom and paint the springs in bright colors. The coiled springs resemble flowers and the pipe lets you push the "flowers" into the ground.
Wind chimes hang from a porch or overhang in your garden and catch the wind, giving off a light and cheerful sound. Use a wood disk, old lantern or another three-dimensional item as the basis for the project. Find smaller items to hang from the piece, including old keys, glass beads and even old broken jewelry. Tie fishing line around each piece and tie the opposite end of the fishing line to the base of the chime. Display the wind chime in your garden.
Remove the glass panes from an old door and use the wood frame as a trellis. Give the wood a fresh coat of white paint or opt for a brighter color that matches flowers and decorations in the garden. Wrap ivy or another climbing vine around the side of the door, making the vine climb up the sides and top of the old door.
