How to Remove Rear Tire From Massey Ferguson 275

The Massey Ferguson 275 is a vintage lawn tractor. Massey Ferguson was an offshoot of Massey-Harris until the company was purchased by AGCO in 1953. The Massey Ferguson 275 is equipped with very large wheels. However, if the tractor tire does go flat, it still has to be removed for it to be repaired. Tractor-tire removal is typically performed without removing the wheel from the axle, as it usually is with passenger vehicles.

Instructions

    • 1

Unscrew and remove the plastic valve stem cap.

    • 2

Insert the valve stem remover into the body of the valve stem and twist it to the left to remove it. Removing the valve stem will help release excess air in the tire, thus making it easier to remove in the long run.

    • 3

Slide the jack under the rear axle of the tire to be removed and jack that end of the tractor up.

    • 4

Apply a generous portion of tire lube over the tire seal.

    • 5

Slip one end of the crowbar under the lip of the outer tire bead and pull it over the tractor rim. Use another crowbar to do the same. Continue until the entire outer tire bead has been pulled over the rim.

    • 6

Remove the tire tube if the Massey Ferguson has one installed by slipping it out by hand.

    • 7

Slip the crowbar under the inner bead and use it to pry the rest of the tire from the rim.
