Make sure the rubber boot over the spark plug is firmly in position. It could have been knocked off in storage or become snagged in the branches of a plant and caused the engine to stall. When properly installed, the boot should fully cover the end of the plug protruding outward from the motor.
Replace the spark plug with a brand new Champion RCJ 8Y. Install it with a 0.25-inch gap, replace the boot and try the engine again. Poulan estimates the spark plug will need changing roughly every year; thus, change the one you have if older than a year.
Examine the wiring running to the spark plug for signs of corrosion, rust or damage. The rubber coating protecting the wiring leading to the plug could have become damaged and require replacing. If rust corrodes the wires, the spark plug might fail to fire completely. Have a service technician examine the trimmer.
