Examine the connections between the battery and your CH22’s solenoid switch. Damaged leads will inhibit starting. Also look at the terminal connecting points on the battery posts and clean off any corrosion, using baking soda and a stiff wire brush.
Inspect the wiring between the ignition and magneto assembly for loose connections or damage. The magneto assembly generates electricity for the spark plug. Any interruption between the ignition and magneto will prevent generation.
Rotate the flywheel to see if the magnets are still attached. When the magnets pass the magneto’s armature, they create the electrical discharge that passes through the coils. Broken or disassembled magnets won’t allow this to happen.
Check the spark plug’s condition and gap setting. A cracked or corroded spark plug will only fire intermittently. Use the feeler gauge to see if the gap setting is .030 inches between the tip and the combustion chamber. If the gap is too close the spark won't discharge; if it's too wide the plug won't discharge the electricity close enough to the vapors.
