How to Put on a Drive Belt for a Craftsman Mower Model Number 917. 273811

Craftsman used a V-belt drive system on the 917.273811 model, which is a 42-inch lawn tractor. Power is transmitted from the engine to the rear transaxle and the mower attachment through two separate drive belts. The mower drive belt turns the mower blades and the motion drive belt drives the rear wheels. Craftsman recommends inspecting the belt for deterioration and wear after every 100 hours of use. The belts are non-adjustable and must be replaced if they are worn or slipping.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the tractor in level ground and turn off the ignition.

    • 2
