How to Put on a 2448 Mower Deck Belt

The Husqvarna YTH 2448 riding lawnmower uses a mowing deck, hung from the bottom of the riding tractor with two rods connected to the middle of the deck and a bracket that secures the front of the deck to the tractor. The belt, wraps around a set of pulleys on the top of the mower deck. This is a good DIY project for the average homeowner as the tools involved for replacement are basic.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Husqvarna onto level ground and lower the mower suspension arms with the attachment lift control lever. Set the parking brake.

    • 2

Disengage the mower deck to stop the rotation of the mower blades and to increase slack on the mower deck drive belt.

    • 3

Locate the clutch pulley extending from the bottom of the mower's engine and then pull the belt off the pulley. The belt is a V-groove belt. To help get the belt off the pulley, manually rotate the pulley while you pull down on the belt.

    • 4

Remove the pulley covers mounted on the left and right ends of the belt with a wrench.

    • 5

Remove the belt from the pulleys on the Husqvarna belt. Place the new belt onto the pulleys.

    • 6

Place the pulley covers onto the mower deck. Secure them both with the wrench.

    • 7

Stretch the belt forward and place it over the clutch pulley. Again, rotate the pulley while you push the belt onto the pulley.
