How to Remove the Trimmer Head to Restring a Line in a Stihl KM110R

The STIHL KM110R is part of the company's KombiMotor lawn tool series. The handheld tool is equipped with a small, four-cycle engine on one end above the handlebars and controls, with a split-design connector near the ground. The connector works with a variety of optional attachments, including a string trimmer for slicing through weeds. The trimmer attachment disconnects from the main tool in seconds for replacing the line.

Instructions

    • 1

Shut off the KM110R engine by pulling the throttle lever back to the "Off" position.

    • 2

Disconnect the wire from the tip of the spark plug on the back of the engine.

    • 3

Raise the black lever on the shaft of the power tool where it connects with the trimmer attachment.

    • 4

Press and hold the spring-loaded locking buttons on the side of the shaft with one hand while hold the trimmer attachment with the other.

    • 5

Pull the trimmer attachment off the drive shaft of the KM110R.

    • 6

Unscrew the base cap on the trimmer head to expose the line reel for restringing. Wrap new line counterclockwise on the spool.
