Lower the deck lift lever into the bottom notch on the right rear fender. This lowers the Tory Bilt's mower deck to the ground and enables the belt change.
Remove the sheet metal screws that hold the belt guards onto the mower deck with a Phillip's screwdriver. Place the belt guards off to the side.
Locate the engine pulley under the engine. Remove the belt-keeper rod by taking out the hex-head bolts that hold the belt keeper onto the bottom of the engine. Use an open-ended wrench for this step. Place the belt keeper off to the side.
Make a diagram of how the belts route around the pulleys on the deck.
Locate the idler pulley bracket on the left side of the mower deck and place a 3/8-inch ratchet into the square hole in the bracket. Rotate the idler pulley away from the belt to remove tension on the belt.
Pull the belt off all the pulleys, including the engine pulley and the idler pulley. Route the new belt onto the deck. Follow the diagram you drew.
Release the idler pulley and remove the ratchet from the square hole.
Reattach the belt-keeper bar to the engine and the belt guards to the mower deck.
