A backhoe is an efficient machine that can be used to dig the ground, create trenches and remove deep-rooted trees. While an unusual addition to the home, most families usually buy a small backhoe that can be enough for tending to a relatively large yard or lawn.

Despite its size, these miniature backhoes can load materials with the use of a smaller bucket, and remove the contents with ease.

For most new backhoe owners, using the machine is a welcome development because they do not have to do back-breaking work. Using the machine resembles tilling the soil more than actual mowing.

  Look for a location in your lawn to dig a hole. Measure the depth and the distance to the farthest side at the bottom of hole before using the backhoe. Accumulate the material you have dug out, and ensure that there is enough space for storing it.

  Check that the backhoe is stable before starting any work.

  Use the controls to turn the bucket upside down, and press it to the ground until you feel the tires lift off from the ground by just a little bit.

  Set the stabilizers to prevent the backhoe from either tripping or moving as you continue your work.

  Remove the top soil and then place the chunk of soil on one side of the hole.

  Repeat this until you have efficiently dug out the entirety of your target area.
