How to Change Oil in a Honda Harmony Lawnmower

Just like a larger riding mower, the Honda Harmony push mower requires engine oil to keep its internal four-stroke engine parts lubricated. Unfortunately, the maintenance task of replacing the engine oil is often overlooked by owners. According to the owner's manual for the Harmony mower, you must change the oil after the first five hours of use and every 50 hours after the initial oil change. This will help keep the engine properly lubricated and ensure your mower does not prematurely wear out.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the mower and run it for two to three minutes to warm up the engine oil. Once warmed, turn off the mower.

    • 2

Locate the plastic fuel valve next to the carburetor and turn it to the "Off" position to prevent fuel leakage from the carburetor.

    • 3

Locate the oil filler tube on the side of the engine. This is the same tube that holds the dipstick. Wipe the area clean with a rag to prevent getting dirt into the engine.

    • 4

Pull the dipstick out of the oil filler tube then tilt the mower on its side and drain the oil from the filler tube into a suitable oil container.

    • 5

Place the mower back on all four wheels then insert a funnel into the filler tube.

    • 6

Fill the funnel with 1/4-quart of oil and let the oil drain into the engine. Place the dipstick in the filler tube and add additional oil as needed. Do not overfill the engine.

    • 7

Tighten the dipstick onto the oil filler tube then turn the gas valve back on.
