How to Remove the Steering Wheel in a John Deere LX178

The John Deere LX178 was produced from 1990 to 1998, in Horicon, Wisconsin. The LX178 was available with a Hydrostatic transmission and adjustable seat suspension for rider comfort. The LX178 was equipped with the option of a 38-inch, 44-inch or 48-inch mowing deck. A 15-horsepower Kohler engine supplied the power to the LX178. The steering wheel of the LX178 might need to be removed if the upper steering assembly is excessively loose -- a small plastic steering bushing at the top of the steering shaft can become worn over time, causing the steering to become inadequate.
