Park the Yard-Man mower on a level surface and turn off the engine. Open the engine compartment by unsnapping the straps and rotating it forward. Pull the wire from the spark plug.
Slide the mower deck under the tractor. Push the deck lever forward on the tractor to its lowest position. Install the stabilizer rod if your mower has a 46-inch deck. Hook the stabilizer rod into the bracket on the front of the mower deck. Tap the rod into the hooks using a hammer. Connect the hanger links, also called the support pins, to the mower deck and install the hairpin clips and washers by inserting the end of the pin into the eye on the shaft. These are at the back, center of the mower deck.
Loop the mower deck belt around the pulley on the engine. You will see the round pulley protruding from the backside of the engine compartment and at the front of the mower deck when it is under the tractor. Install the hex bolts for the belt retainers and tighten them using an adjustable wrench. These go into the guard that covers the belt. Raise the mower deck to the proper height by pulling the level back.
