How to Replace the Drive Belts on a Huskee 46 Inch Lawn Tractor

Huskee, short for Husqvarna, manufactures many different types of motorized equipment from dirt bikes to chainsaws to lawn mowers. The Husqvarna 46-inch riding lawn mower is an ideal lawn mower for those with moderate to large yards. The maintenance on a Huskee lawn tractor is minimal but there is one part you must pay close attention to -- the mower deck belt. If the belt dry rots, it could break. This would leave you without a mower. Inspect the belt before each cutting season to ensure you change it before it breaks on you.

Instructions

  Drive the Huskee onto level ground, lower the mower deck to its lowest position and disengage the PTO drive lever to stop the mower deck. Set the parking brake and turn the lawn tractor off.

  Remove the bolts that secure the pulley guard covers onto the mower deck, using a wrench. Place the covers off to the side.

  Locate the idler pulley on the mower deck. The idler pulley has a bracket with a square hole cut into it. The bracket also has a spring attached to it. Place a 3/8-inch ratchet into the square hole on the bracket and rotate the idler pulley away from the belt.

  Pull the belt off the pulley system on the mower deck and then let go of the ratchet driver.

  Pull the belt off the pulley located under the engine of the Huskee and then place the new belt onto the pulley.

  Rotate the replacement belt around each pulley on the mower deck except for the idler pulley.

  Move the idler pulley again with the ratchet driver and then slide the belt over the idler pulley. Remove the 3/8-inch ratchet from the idler pulley.
- 8
  Reinstall the guard covers over the pulleys on the mower deck with the original bolts and the wrench.
