How to Adjust the Deck of a Snapper Rider

Snapper is a brand of push and riding lawn mowers that has been acquired by Briggs & Stratton, maker of small engines found on many lawn mowers. Snapper riding mowers, like most riding mowers and lawn tractors, have adjustable cutting decks that allow you to mow the grass at varying heights. Adjusting the height of the cutting deck on your Snapper riding mower is a straightforward action that should take you little time to get a handle on regardless of your level of experience with lawn mowers of any brand or style.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the Snapper riding mower and cut the engine.

    • 2

Look to the right side of the Snapper riding mower. There will be a long, slender handle that features a single button at its very top. This is the Snapper's implement lift lever. There is a base below it that features a number of markings that indicate nine different positions the deck can be set to in order to vary the length of the cut. The cut height ranges from 1 to 4 inches depending on the position choice you make.

    • 3

Push down on the Snapper riding lawn mower's implement lift lever button. Continue to hold the button down while pushing the lever forward or back to select one of the nine positions. Pulling the Snapper's lever back will raise the deck, and pushing it forward will lower it.

    • 4

Release the Snapper riding lawn mower's implement lift lever button to set the cutting position in place.

    • 5

Turn on the engine and take the mower out of park. Engage the blades and begin cutting your lawn. Stop and adjust your deck position as necessary.
