Disconnect the positive and negative battery cable terminals from the battery with a wrench.
Select the location where you plan to install the kill switch. It should serve your purpose. If you want it for emergencies, keep it close where you can press it when needed. If you want it for security, select a hidden location.
Drill a 1/2-inch hole with a hand drill so you can mount the switch.
Remove the hex nut from the switch, place the threaded shaft of the switch into the hole and then secure the switch to the hole with the hex nut and a wrench. As a note, you need a SPST or on/off switch rated for automotive applications. You can get them at just about any auto parts stores.
Locate the negative or black battery cable and trace it to where the cable connects to the mower chassis. Loosen the bolt that secures the wire to the chassis.
Attach the cable to one lug on the toggle switch and tighten it in place with a screwdriver. If the cable will not reach, you must replace the cable with a longer one.
Cut a piece of cable that will fit between the toggle switch and the mounting location on the chassis. Crimp on wire loom connectors with pliers and then connect the wire to the chassis and to the second lug on the switch. When completed, the ground wire routes from the chassis to the switch to the battery.
Reconnect the positive and then the negative battery cable.
Turn on the mower and then flip the toggle switch to the off-position. This cuts the connection to ground and stalls the engine.
