Ensure there is fuel in your Walker diesel mower. Add fuel to your tank if it is dry.
Use the Walker diesel mower's cold start lever if it is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and your mower is struggling to start. Engage the lever and attempt to start the mower again.
Move the Walker diesel mower's throttle up from idle to the one-quarter or one-half mark in cold weather if the cold start lever is not working.
Pop the front hood on the mower and make sure the thin ignition wire on the side of the Kubota engine is still connected to the rear of the spark plug.
Consider removing the spark plug entirely if it is showing wear, black or brown corrosion, or if the white ring on its end is blistered and thus riddled with black spots. Disconnect the ignition wire from the old spark plug and pull the plug out.
Connect the Walker diesel mower's ignition wire to the new spark plug.
Find the red, positive terminal wire on the side of the battery. Follow its end back to the solenoid, which is located between the battery and the Kubota engine. The wire should be connected to the solenoid's side bolt. If it is not, fix its end over the bolt and tighten it into place using a socket wrench.
Consider changing the oil and the oil filter of your Walker diesel mower if running problems persist. Keep in mind that these should be changed every 100 to 200 operating hours. You can find the dipstick and oil drain plug on the left side of the Kubota engine. Take out the dipstick.
Unscrew and remove the oil cap. Position an oil pan under the side of the motor and remove the drain plug. Allow all the old oil to drain out.
Take out the Walker diesel mower's oil filter.
Coat the replacement oil filter's gasket with a thin lining of fresh, new oil.
Insert the new filter and twist it clockwise until it locks into place. Place the drain plug back into place.
Check the operating manual that comes with your specific model of Walker diesel mower. Select oil that meets the specifications, then fill the Kubota engine's crankcase with the new oil. Measure with a dipstick and ensure the oil goes up to the top mark on the dipstick, but no higher.
